FAQs
We do not charge hire fees for our spaces, but minimum spends/pre-orders may apply. Where a minimum pre-order is required (Club Room, Saloon, Garden) this amount must be met in advance. If your minimum spend is not reached on the day, your deposit will be retained to cover the remaining balance.
All of our spaces look lovely as they are, but you are welcome to organise flowers, balloons, or tasteful decorations to add your own touch. We just ask that you ensure everything is removed come the end of your booking. Confetti and confetti-filled balloons are prohibited. Please do not attempt to fix anything to the walls, as this may damage the paintwork, and may incur a charge.
Because we have a wonderful kitchen team, and already cater to a wide range of tastes, we do not allow external food.
If you would like to supply a cake for your celebration, you may do so. If you are dining from one of our set menus there is no fee for this, otherwise, there is a small £3.50pp cakeage fee. Due to a limited amount of refrigerated space, and the number of functions we cater for, we would prefer you to arrange for cake delivery on the day of your event from 10am onwards. In case of earlier cake deliveries, please check this with your events manager. We will happily provide plates, cutlery, napkins and a cake knife, and will cut and serve your cake when requested.
Both the Oakley Room and Club Room feature Bluetooth audio capabilities for you to play your own music. Our audio systems are designed to provide atmospheric music, but are not designed for high volume. Being a residential pub, we must be considerate of our neighbours and should we feel the volume is too loud, we will ask you to turn it down. No amplifiers or audio equipment may be used, in accordance with our license.Unfortunately, live music is not permitted in the Oakley Room, Club Room or garden.
We welcome children in the dining room before 6pm. We offer a childrens’ menu within these times. Please ensure your children remain seated and supervised, and when using electronic devices are considerate of neighbouring guests. If you have booked a private room, you are welcome to bring children with you at all times, as long as they remain supervised. Our ground floor accessible toilet has baby changing facilities. We have 3 high-chairs available.
Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden. Please let us know if you are bringing one so we can allocate you an appropriate space. Dogs must remain on a lead and supervised at all times.
Being a historic building, there is no lift, so our first and second floors are wheelchair inaccessible. There is one step from street level to pub, but we have a portable ramp to facilitate access. The Saloon and dining room are one step up and two steps down respectively, but we have portable ramps to aid access. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
